Kick off your #MyOceanChallenge this Endangered Species Day

Are you up for a challenge? Join the Endangered Species Day 2015 celebration by taking the My Ocean Challenge, Project AWARE’s new, exciting way to take action for ocean protection.

Endangered Species Day - My Ocean Challenge

The challenges facing endangered marine species, big and small, have never been more pressing. With My Ocean Challenge, you can help tackle two of the biggest challenges faced by our ocean: marine debris and over-exploitation of sharks and rays.

Taking the My Ocean Challenge is a great way to raise awareness about endangered marine species and raise funds critical to protecting our ocean and its wildlife.

From running a marathon to baking cakes, participating in a sponsored abseil event or donating your birthday, the funds raised through your My Ocean Challenge fuel the grassroots action and policy change necessary to ensure a clean, healthy ocean planet for us today and for future generations.

On Endangered Species Day, May 15 – or starting any day you choose – go to projectaware.org/fundraise to kick off your My Ocean Challenge. A bike ride, skydive or taking part in a sponsored bungee jump – the possibilities are endless! My Ocean Challenge is all about challenging yourself to help protect the ocean. The only limit is your imagination!

Our ocean is facing tough challenges. Your challenge this Endangered Species Day and beyond: Fundraise for its protection.

Take Project AWARE’s #MyOceanChallenge

*Beginning on Endangered Species Day 2015, the first ten fundraisers to raise $500 or more will also be awarded with a Quikpod selfie stick so you can show the world how you took on the challenge!

Ho Ho Ho – Santa Divers take over Vobster Quay this Sunday!

vobstersantas-web

Hundreds of divers are getting reading to show off their very best Santa costumes and jump into the water at Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre (Somerset, UK) this Sunday 14th December.

The fun festivities are part of the annual Vobster Santas event which is held in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI). Divers have been fundraising individually through mobile phone and direct donations, as well as through the Vobster Santas JustGiving page (which has already reached nearly £600 in donations).

Every Santa diver that attends the event will be entered into the prize draw, and extra tickets can be purchased for just £1 each.

If previous years are anything to go by, this year’s event is going to be another fun-packed day full of belly-laughs and ho ho hos – make sure you join in the fun with your best red outfit and white beard!

For more information, visit the Vobster Santas Website.

Record-breaking Santa Divers Take the Plunge for Vobster Santas

vobstersantas-web

With the festive season fast approaching, it’s time to dig out your Santa suit and get involved in the biggest and best record-breaking charity Santa diving event this side of Lapland – with the faint sound of jingle bells ringing in our ears, Vobster Santas is back!

Run in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), Vobster Santas 2014 will take place on Sunday 14th December 2014 at Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre near Radstock in Somerset.

Last year’s event was the biggest yet with a record number of Santa divers taking to the water – over 175 divers braved the winter weather to smash the world record!

Vobster Santas isn’t just about world records, though – it’s also about raising some serious cash for charity. Once again, Vobster Quay is aiming to raise some serious money for the RNLI by getting as many sponsored divers dressed in their finest Santa outfits onsite and in the water in a mass of fluffy beards and red suits. The event continues to grow in popularity with a record-breaking number of Santa divers donning their finest festive gear to raise over £25,000 in the last four years alone.

Santa divers attending the event will be invited to seek sponsorship for their endeavours through either individual sponsorship or via JustGiving. Vobster Quay will also be raising money for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance by raffling off a selection of great prizes. Every Santa diver that attends the event will automatically be entered into the prize draw and additional tickets will be available on the day for just £1 a pop! If previous years are anything to go by, this year’s event is going to be another fun-packed day full of festive belly-laughs.

Divers wishing to participate in the event can get involved by simply registering their attendance at www.vobster.com/santas. Once registered, you can then get involved in the fundraising in a choice of ways:

  • Direct Sponsorship – Attendees can download the Vobster Santas Sponsorship Form at www.vobster.com/vobstersantas and then pester their friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them for the event.
  • JustGiving.com – Take all the hassle out of fund raising by simply pointing your family and friends to the Vobster Santas 2014 JustGiving page. They’ll be able to donate online and will even be able to take advantage of GiftAid.
  • Mobile Phone text donation – supporters can also donate to Vobster Santas 2014 via a very simple text message. Simply text ‘VSAN50 £XX’ where ‘XX’ is the amount you wish to donate to 70070.

Vobster Quay will be doing its bit to raise money for the RNLI too. For every £1 raised by Santa divers through sponsorship, Vobster Quay will donate an extra 50p to a maximum of an additional £1000.

For more information, visit the Vobster Santas Website.
