Join PADI at Anglesey ScubaFest this weekend!

The Anglesey ScubaFest event is taking place this weekend (in North Wales, UK), and PADI is supporting activities with a PADI Pool Party at Holyhead Leisure Centre, along with a PADI Stand at Porth Dafarch beachfront, where PADI staff will be on-hand to answer visitor, diver and PADI Pros’ questions.

Plus, we’re giving away free PADI sunglasses and you can submit your scuba selfie for a chance to win a year’s free PADI Diving Society Membership plus a PADI goodie bag. Ask at the PADI stand for more details.

PADI Pool Party

PPP-logoThe Anglesey ScubaFest isn’t just about existing aquanauts having all the fun for themselves. Part of the fun is introducing new divers to the sport, helping them see for themselves why it is that we love to “get wet”!

This year, PADI is hosting a Pool Party at the Holyhead Leisure Centre. Tickets were provided on a first-come basis and this exciting event is now sold out.

This is the perfect opportunity for new divers to take their first breath underwater, and experience the weightlessness of inner space in a warm, safe and comfortable environment.

Besides PADI’s Discover programmes – and PADI goodies to take away – the Pool Party also features a get-together upstairs at the centre. PADI Pros will be on-hand to illustrate, explain and answer all your questions as required, helping new and existing divers shape their diving futures.

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August, 12-3pm at Holyhead Leisure Centre, Kingsland, Holyhead, Anglesey, LL65 2YE     Telephone: 01407 764111

ScubaFest BannerThe Anglesey ScubaFest event is taking place this weekend (in North Wales, UK), and PADI is once again supporting activities with PADI Discover experiences in the pool and PADI staff on-hand to answer visitor, diver and PADI Pros’ questions.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving Programme

Free PADI Discover Scuba Diving experiences are being conducted by PADI Professionals between 1pm and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, at the Holyhead Leisure Centre pool complex (Holyhead Leisure Centre Pool: Kingsland, Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey LL65 2YE).

Tickets for the PADI Discover sessions were offered on a first-come basis and have now sold out! Nearly 50 participants will be experiencing the unforgettable feeling of breathing underwater for the first time at the event.

About Anglesey ScubaFest

Anglesey ScubaFest is open to divers and non-divers, with plenty going on to keep certified enthusiasts and those looking to get into the sport fully occupied. It’s also a great opportunity to bring your students to a fun packed and exciting event. Expect RIB shuttles and charter boats heading out to nearby dive sites, try-dive sessions for total newbies, along with sessions on sidemount and rebreathers for those looking to expand their horizons, beachcombing expeditions for the kids (and the young at heart!), underwater photography splash-in competitions, the chance to trial equipment from major manufacturers, plus much, much more.

Furthermore, once everyone is out of the water, the après-dive festivities continue long into the night, with hog-roasts, curry and chilli nights, live bands and fancy-dress parties bringing all attendees together in one big, happy family.

The new yurt village at Pentewan Sands provided a fantastic community atmosphere and attracted plenty of visitors, from registered event attendees to passers-by. PADI staff members Simon Chance (PADI Retailer and Resort Associations Manager), Matt Clements (PADI Regional Manager) and Danielle Schofield (PADI Marketing Coordinator) enjoyed the opportunity to welcome new and existing divers as well as catch up with fellow industry members.

Aquasport International provided PADI technical dive experiences throughout Saturday and Sunday, with rebreathers, sidemount and twin set configurations all on-hand for testing in the swimming pool. Both days were packed with divers keen to try something new, and who finished their session smiling and very keen to continue with PADI TecRec training!

PADI Diving Society recently re-launched with a global alignment and was another focal point at the PADI stand. The Society, which provides scuba-related benefits to over 180,000 members, received a terrific amount of interest each day, including new membership signups and raffle entries, with each visitor able to take away a complimentary copy of Sport Diver magazine, the official publication of the PADI Diving Society.

The weekend social calendar was also fun-packed, with raffles, bands and fancy dress competitions – but Sunday afternoon drew in big crowds and even bigger laughs, with ScubaFest exhibitors and visitors invited to test their skills on a just-for-fun rodeo tournament. And, yes – Simon, Matt and Danielle all braved the bucking bronco… but sadly didn’t claim the top title (maybe next year!).

PADI is already geared up to attend Anglesey ScubaFest (August 16-17th), and will be offering a range of activities from Discover Scuba Diving experiences through to technical tasters, as well as rescue workshops and more! Watch this space!
